Recurring themes are part of my quest as an artist. I see the same subject but differently. It’s not much fun to capture something as a realistic image of what it is. I could use my camera for that which I do often enough. But when I have a brush in hand or a pile of paper or something to smoosh and mold, an exploration begins. An examination.
Horseshoe crabs like to have sex in Delaware Bay in the merry months of May and June mostly. When I was a kid and waterskied on the Chesapeake Bay, I was terrified of them. Since living in Delaware and realizing what these crabs are and some of their characteristics, I’m in awe.
Bessie is my model. I’ll get into that more in later posts. But for now, this underpainting is how I plan to show her as a seasonable being on Delaware’s version of Pebble beach. I paint her with Golden acrylics on canvas mostly.
You can visit me at my gallery and studio if you’re visiting state capitals. More on this later as well as Bessie.
Cheers….Taylor
