This week
A Thoreau quote “live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment.”
Writing…be it poetry or essays… is a wonderful way to extract what’s in your mind. Putting pen to page clarifies your thoughts and helps you think about what you are actually thinking about as creativity takes many forms.
Connecting to the connections. Thoreau is the one accessible writer whose million or so words that made it into print, remain a timeless voice.
I identify as a second-wave feminist. Stumbled upon this handy list that helps identify which period some well-known poets identified as Feminist Poets.
Collage occupies some of my artistic journey these days as it can combine both written word and visual art expression. This recent work, “I Ask Your Forgiveness,” captures the only surviving lines of poetry by Ginerva de Benci. Leonardo daVinci included them in one of his Codex notebooks. Sometimes what you capture in a passing day and record may be astonishing.
Have a creative day wherever you may be roaming this week. Taylor
Other collage works in this series as well as other art are available online. I particularly also loved making the poetry collage based on one my favorite poets, Lucille Clifton. Try reading it aloud and experience a little of what the process of creation feels like. Enjoy!
