And here’s hoping it’s not the fallen Angel everyone goes on about, but I’m done with this political correctness about Christmas—X-Mas birthday party’s name.
There are many religions and many celebrations by believers and non-believers this time of year. Enough already as this debate is really old!
I was raised plain old Methodist. Four-part harmony our speciality. I’m basically a Golden Rule believer and feel everyone has to come to their own spiritual decisions. Holiday’s are celebrations. It’s none of my business how anyone wants to celebrate or what they want to call any holiday. Seinfeld’s TV Dad went with Festivus, as he said, for the rest of us.
But if one more post pops up about Christmas versus X-Mas, this post is my response from now on. Jesusmas is my reply
Happy Jesusmas! And peace on earth to men of good will!
I am tired of politics infecting every facet of American life so this year I’m celebrating Jesusmas. And, yes, it is ok to use J-Mas. And, yes, I’m hoping it will be pronounced both ways as in the Spanish version where the J is pronounced as an H. You know, like the way we pronounce Navajo, which is so hard to spell correctly as no one knows where the H goes as there is no H! Navajo isn’t the original tribe name it seems as the tribe’s original name was Diné, which is not even close to that strange Spanish word that foreign forces forced upon the tribe who didn’t even have a comparable V-sound in their spoken language.
So it’s probably a sure bet that Santa Claus or Kris Kringle won’t mind the change I’m making in changing Christ-mas to Jesus-mas. Maybe the holiday was really meant to be Christ Mass. Did anyone ever think about that? And technically Christmas actually changes the pronunciation of Christ to Chris. And if he’s technically the son of God, I would think those who hanker to be so politically incorrect might think it’s important to get the son’s name right. Unless, of course, Allah is really God’s name or some other Lordly sounding title. So maybe what something is named really doesn’t matter at all? Does anyone really care? Enough already!
Merry Jesusmas to all and to all a good night!! Taylor…not the grinch but the grouch this year… Merry! Merry!
