The most noteworthy thing today…
Is letting you know I’ll be sharing tidbits about the creative process and curiosities to perk your natural inquisitiveness.
Welcome to Making a Note of It by me, Taylor Collins. As a second-wave feminist, I still feel like a rebel without a cause and still hope to change this ever-changing world to seeing things my way. The current seventies contain as many interesting causes and challenges as the seventies of youth—the same, yes, but way so different. My hope is to perk your interest or offer new perspectives on how to take more note of this life as we are flying by. It is my long-held belief that time is the constant. We pass through on a crowded path with an undated ticket to a narrow place featuring “The End.” It’s no wonder there are so many crazy people and things along the way!
I’ve always tried to live as if it might matter that I was born. I didn’t realize if you live to be 80, you have 4,000 weeks to get those important matters done. I mistakenly thought RoeVWade was settled law. I didn’t realize there are men in the 21st century who might actually think of women as merely host bodies. I thought Equality was on a fast track. I thought someone was in charge of our planet’s trees. I didn’t expect it to actually be the Lorax. I don’t understand why DaVinci spent so many days trying to square a circle. I didn’t realize serious as a heart attack is really, really serious until I had one, or two, or three. Would you have any idea that poetry could actually save your life? Do you ever really think about what you are thinking about as you’re thinking about what it actually is that you’re thinking about?
As a fragment writer most of my life, out of daily living arose larger questions of what it means to be alive, to thrive. Taking notes along the way leaves a trail or as Alexandra Stoddard noted, a trace of your journey here and what it means to be you. Others may benefit from what you benefited from. Or better yet, your journey might spark a bit of curiosity. Curiosity, that secret key all are given who enter this world, is our best bet for longevity.
Here is where you’ll find what I’ve discovered, tried, or experienced. Sign up now if you want to know a little of how I learned to be. Being aware of beingness is indeed a wonderful place to find yourself. My aim is to post weekly, the five or 10 things that might make you think, for a moment at least, about what made me think.
The book I’m currently reading Four Thousand Weeks—Time Management by Mortals by Oliver Burkeman is one I wish I had discovered years ago maybe you will find it of interest, too.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
