A Heron Doesn’t Converse

When I am in a communing mood…

A favorite morning zenish moment…those with AADD aren’t very zen oriented…is to traipse around my neighborhood with camera or notepad. We have a couple of small lakes, a river that is more stream-like these days, and flora and fauna in easily assessable places for a small city. I try to capture a bit of dragon smoke as Bly called it before I write a bit each day. Today, the birds, the ducks, geese, and herons were out and about. I decided to chat with the closest heron and noticed he was not the same one I saw a couple of days ago as he did not have the black head feathers that flip off the back of his head much like the fascinators worn by the British at gala events. The morning seemed rather gala-like as everything was fresh with rain. This heron is familiar with me and allowed me to stand about 3 or 4 feet away. He might have thought I had a bit of bait. Who knows, but he wasn’t the least bit interested in what I had to say.

Do love how his reflection shows and the sounds of bird song. Enjoy the day!
